This article walks through the full 3X4 genetic testing process for your 3X4 Health test, from sample collection to results access. Following these instructions carefully is important to ensure your sample can be processed without delays.
1. Inspect your 3X4 DNA Kit
Immediately upon receiving your 3X4 kit, conduct a quick visual inspection to ensure all components are intact and ready for use:
- Confirm the vial contains liquid and shows no signs of leakage
- Ensure the swab packet is sealed and unopened
- Check that both the vial and swab are within their expiration dates
- Verify that the small resealable bag closes securely
If anything appears damaged, missing, or expired, contact 3X4 Support before collecting your sample.
2. Plan when to collect your sample
For optimal sample quality, collect your swab first thing in the morning, before brushing your teeth, eating, drinking, smoking, or chewing gum. If you’ve had anything in your mouth, wait at least 30 minutes before collecting your sample to reduce the risk of contamination.
Important: Step-by-step swab instructions will be available in your 3X4 account once your kit has been registered.
3. Register your kit code
Your kit code must be registered before you return your sample to the lab. Samples received without a registered kit code may not be able to be processed and may be discarded.
3.1 Create your 3X4 account
Every 3X4 kit needs to be registered to an individual 3X4 account with a unique, verifiable email address.
If you have not yet created a 3X4 account, get started by installing the 3X4 Health app.
3.2 Register your 3X4 Kit code
Each 3X4 kit includes a unique Kit Code printed on the sample collection vial. This code is used to identify your sample throughout laboratory processing.
Please take care to ensure all registration information is entered correctly.
To register your kit:
Locate the insert card inside your 3X4 kit.

Scan the QR code to begin registration.
If you’re unable to scan the code, manually enter the web link into your browser.
Follow the on-screen instructions to securely link your kit code to your 3X4 account.
Registering multiple kits?
If you are collecting samples for more than one person, take extra care to avoid mix-ups:
Keep track of which person uses each DNA sample vial until every kit code has been registered
Confirm you are linking the kit code to the correct individual / 3X4 profile
4. Collect your DNA sample
Once your kit has been registered, you’ll receive step-by-step instructions in your 3X4 account explaining how to collect your sample.
It’s important to follow these instructions carefully. Samples that are not collected according to the guidance may not meet laboratory quality standards and could require recollection.
5. Return your sample
Place your sealed sample inside the labeled return shipping bag and drop it off at your nearest participating shipping location.

6. Access your results
We will notify you as soon as your results are ready on your 3X4 Health app!
